يذكر، أن ميدو قد خرج أمس بتصريحات مثيرة، أكد فيها أن الأهلي لا يستهدف سوى التعاقد مع لاعبي الزمالك فقط، بينما يملك الزمالك القدرة على ضم أي لاعب من الأهلي من خلال شيكات مفتوحة، إلا أن هذا ليس من مبادئ القلعة البيضاء، بحسب وصفه.

It has been another strong campaign for Middlesbrough so far this season, as they look to end their stay in the second tier and return to the Premier League. Michael Carrick has been impressive since joining Boro, and that isn’t going unnoticed, so much so one Premier League team have their eye on the young manager.

West Ham are weighing up a move for Carrick, as they consider their options to replace Julen Lopetegui. Defeat for the Hammers against Wolves could spell the end for the Spaniard, and Carrick is said to be high up on the list of managers to replace Lopetegui.

Meanwhile, for Derby, Paul Warne provided a worrying update on David Ozoh after their defeat to Leeds. The Rams boss was hopeful the midfielder would return from injury this month, after being sidelined in September, but Warne is now unclear when he will return.

He said: “I don’t honestly know. I know he had a little hiccup on his rehab before, and it has not gone as quickly as anyone would have hoped. He is not in a place yet where he can fully join in. He just isn’t right yet. He still has an awareness, and even if that it is only 10 percent, it could take weeks. Until he is fully right, we can’t push him any harder.

“If ever there was a perfect game to have Ebou Adams and David Ozoh as your two sitting midfielders, this was it (Saturday’s match at Leeds). But it wasn’t to be.”

Boro look set to beat Derby and Sheff Wed to Barry

According to journalist Darren Witcoop, Middlesbrough are in pole position to sign Louie Barry in January. The 21-year-old is currently on loan at League One side Stockport County from Aston Villa and has been in impressive form throughout the campaign.

Barry, who has been dubbed “incredible” by England midfielder Declan Rice, has been at Villa since January 2020, when he joined the club from Barcelona’s academy. He has had several loan spells during his career, two of which have come at Stockport, as he helped them out of League Two last season and then rejoined them during the summer.

The forward has been in sensational form, so much so that Villa are considering recalling him and sending him back out on loan to a higher-level club. Witcoop states that Boro are the frontrunners to sign Barry in January.

Os primeiros movimentos no Couto Pereira foram de poucas emoções. O Coritiba tentou ditar o ritmo do confronto e conseguiu incomodar em chute de Igor Paixão, que obrigou Gleibson a cair no canto para espalmar e afastar o perigo.

Por sua vez, o Cianorte chegou raramente ao campo de ataque e, quando conseguiu avançar um pouco, parou na defesa do Coritiba, que estava bem postada.

A parte final do primeiro tempo foi mais movimentada, ainda que ambos os times tenham errado muitos passes e encontrado muitas dificuldades na hora de armarem os seus lances de ataque.

Quando conseguiu chegar, o Cianorte levou perigo em lance de Patric, cruzou procurando Coutinho, mas o atacante não alcançou a bola. Do outro lado, a resposta veio com Igor Paixão, que soltou uma bomba e acertou o travessão, levando o jogo em 0 a 0 para os vestiários.

Newcastle United now want to sign a new forward for Eddie Howe in what could be a repeat of the Tino Livramento deal, according to a fresh report.

Once on the books of Chelsea and clearly talented, Newcastle struck gold when they took a gamble on an injury-hit Livramento. Arriving from Southampton, he has gone on to nail down a place in Howe’s first XI this season, starting 13 times in the Premier League and ousting veteran Kieran Trippier from right-back.

His performances saw him called up to the England senior set up for the first time earlier in the campaign, and Howe has always been effusive in his praise of the defender, who he praised alongside Lewis Hall after their game against Chelsea earlier in the season.

“They are two outstanding players, and it would have been a big day for them, coming back to their former club”, he explained. “I thought they did themselves proud, both in and out of possession. Our full-backs are such a big part of what we do, and how we attack. I thought they used the ball really well.

“They were given tough examinations, they were up against very good opponents. But I was really pleased with both of their performances.”

Still just 22-years-old, Livramento is likely to be Newcastle’s first choice fullback for much of the next decade should he remain at St James’ Park, and could well go on to become a legend on Tyneside if his early performances are anything to go by. Now, Newcastle want to repeat that trick.

That comes as Football Insider report that the Magpies are ready to fight it out with Manchester United to sign impressive young forward Tyler Dibling from Southampton.

Though the Saints have just a single win to their name so far this season, Dibling has been a sole bright spark for the club, with the teenager turning in a string of excellent performances.

Speaking on Match of the Day, former Premier League ace Danny Murphy revealed he expects Dibling to become a star: “It is the quality he has got – the belief in himself and the physical power. He just goes past people with ease. He has got a lovely left foot. He is very brave on the ball and his decision-making is good.

“It is difficult to get too over the top with these young players, because he has just come on to the scene, but he is going to be something special.”

His form has caught the eye of other Premier League sides, while he is down to the final 18 months of his £5,000-a-week deal on the South coast and is yet to pen fresh terms, leaving clubs sniffing a potential opportunity.

Newcastle are one of those sides, with Howe’s side “keeping tabs on his progress”, while his additon would fit into their plan “to give young English talents a chance to shine” on Tyneside.

Though a deal in January is unlikely, Dibling could be available in the summer should Southampton get relegated, in the same way that Livramento moved away following their relegation in 2022.

Like two years ago, Newcastle could offer the perfect destination for a young talent to develop, while they would simultaneously solve their problematic right-wing position, which is believed to be their priority in the coming windows.

Three, we are entering a stage in this IPL where the pitches are now making you want to lose the toss because it is still a big move to bet against the dew and bat first but, at the same time, it is getting more and more difficult to bat when chasing.Four, it doesn’t matter how many you get on the board – once big-hitters get on a roll, nothing is enough.In about three minutes of chatting with Star Sports, MS Dhoni delivered these lessons in his own inimitable style. Because the last game also that we played the ball actually stops a bit even in the second half. It only gets better after the 13th-14th over onwards. Which means you still have to behave and bat a bit nicely [even in the chase].”The batters gave us those extra few runs than whatever the par [score] was. The way the openers batted and after that everybody contributed a bit. Overall runs on the board really helps. Then making sure the big-hitters don’t go after you. It doesn’t matter if you get 200 or 210, once they get going, you can’t save the game.”Dhoni would not be drawn into getting carried away in his praise of Super Kings’ young fast bowlers Mukesh Choudhary and Simarjeet Singh, who set up their defence of 208 nicely. “What I personally feel, both Simarjeet and Mukesh have taken time to mature,” Dhoni said. “It is different with every individual. There are some who are good right from the first game. There are some who take a few games. Whether is two, three, four or it can be seven or ten games.”What is good to see is they have the capability. What is important is the more they play the better they will get at game sense. Game sense is something that is very crucial. Yes you have the talent, you have the variation but ultimately it is reading, ‘Okay what is a good delivery to bowl? What is a good delivery not to bowl?’ I feel often in T20 cricket, what’s more important is to know what is not a good delivery to bowl. Because that’s what puts extra pressure on you if you go for runs. If you go for runs, that actually affects your confidence.”MS Dhoni has a chat with Mukesh Choudhary•BCCI

In setting up the game, Dhoni himself scored 21 runs off eight; walking in in the 18th over, here was a match situation which required him to go for the big hits straightaway. “The first ball was to see what really is happening,” Dhoni joked. “It’s something that I don’t really like: going and straightaway hitting. When you go around 13th-14th over onwards, if they bowl short or length, you can tap it down, see the pace of the wicket. But if it is only 12 deliveries left, all your batters start going up. They start going after the six. It puts extra pressure on the batter.”I feel as a team that is something we have not done very well this season. When there is only 12 or 13 deliveries left, few of us who are batting, if we can contribute a two-ball eight or six runs … there is runs on the board. But what we have failed in, if we play two deliveries [to have a sighter], [then] you get out, you have scored four runs off two deliveries or three deliveries, that doesn’t really help the score.”CSK have stayed alive in the tournament but they will need to win their remaining games and also have other results go their way to make the playoffs. However, a big win here gave them a net-run-rate boost. Dhoni, though, wasn’t going to get ahead of himself. “One at a time is good enough,” Dhoni said. “I am not a big fan of maths. Even at school I was not good at maths. You write your own fortune. What is important is [you] always have to be [at] your best. There is no point thinking about this [other] team needs to beat some other team. It just puts added pressure.”Just turn up for your games, plan well, execute your plans, look to win the game, and enjoy the rest of the IPL matches. You don’t want to be under pressure when two other franchises are playing. Enjoy the IPL, it is good.”If it happens, it happens, but what is more important is to make the most of the three [remaining] games. See what are the combinations we can feature in what positions. And start planning for the next year. If we qualify for the playoffs, it is very good. But if not, it’s not the end of the world.”
